Guidelines we follow to properly wash vehicles

Updated: Jan 2

Washing your car properly is essential to maintain its appearance and prevent damage to the paint and finish. Properly washing your car involves attention to detail and using the right techniques and products to avoid scratching the paint or causing damage. Here are some guidelines our team follows to ensure your car is effectively and safely washed:

1. We choose the right products: Our team uses a high-quality car wash soap specifically designed for automobiles. Tip: Avoid using household detergents, as they can strip wax and damage the paint. As well as microfiber wash mitts or sponges, as they are gentle on the paint and trap dirt effectively.

2. Pre-Rinse: To remove loose dirt and debris. This step helps prevent scratching during the washing process.

3. Two-Bucket Method: One for soapy water and another for rinse water. This helps prevent contamination of the wash mitts or sponges.

4. Start from the Top: Always begin washing from the top of the car and work your way down. This prevents dirty water from running down and potentially causing streaks or water spots.

5. Use Straight-Line Motions: When washing, use straight-line motions rather than circular or swirling patterns. This minimizes the risk of creating swirl marks.

6. Be Gentle: Avoid applying excessive pressure when washing. Let the soap and the mitt/sponge do the work. Pressing too hard can cause micro-scratches.

7. Clean Wheels and Tires Separately: Use a separate wash mitt or brush for the wheels and tires. Brake dust and grime from the wheels can be abrasive and should not mix with the mitt/sponge used for the car's body.

8. Rinse Frequently: Rinse the mitt or sponge frequently in the rinse bucket to remove dirt and debris, keeping it clean and effective.

9. Dry with Care: Use clean, soft microfiber towels or a chamois to dry the car. Pat the surface gently rather than rubbing to avoid scratching. Start from the top and work your way down.

10. Clean Glass Separately: Use a glass cleaner and a separate microfiber cloth to clean the windows and mirrors. Avoid getting glass cleaner on the paint, as it can leave streaks.

11. Inspect and Touch-Up ( We encourage clients to inspect along with us and voice any concerns) : After drying, inspect the car for any missed spots or areas that may need additional cleaning. Touch up as necessary.

By following these tips and paying great attention to detail, we can maintain the appearance of your car and keep its paint and finish in great condition.
